At Xyphla, we believe meaningful work is built on trust, responsibility, and service. One such milestone was our involvement in a nationwide Quran Memorization and Azan Competition, an initiative that brought together madrasas, masjids, scholars, and participants from across Sri Lanka.
The journey concluded with a national final and a prestigious awards ceremony—marking an important chapter not only for the competition, but also for everyone involved in its execution.
About the Competition
The All Island Quran Memorization and Azan Competition (2025/2026) was a multi-stage national initiative aimed at encouraging excellence in Quranic education and the call to prayer.
The competition was:
- Organized by: Humanitarian Relief Foundation
- In collaboration with: Fajr Council and Kolonnawa Divisional Masjid Federation
Participants from across the country competed under clearly defined categories to ensure fairness and relevance.
A Journey Across Sri Lanka
The competition was conducted in multiple regions, with preliminary and regional rounds hosted at madrasas and masjids across Sri Lanka. This approach ensured accessibility for participants while maintaining consistent standards nationwide.
The National Finals in Kolonnawa
The most challenging stage of the competition was the National Finals, held at Pullman Grand Hall, Kolonnawa, on 27th and 28th January.
The finals brought together:
- The top three participants from each province
- All competition categories
- Senior and experienced judging panels
Managing this phase required careful coordination, precision, and sustained focus over two full days.
Our Founder’s Role in the Finals
Our Founder, Abdul Maalik, was part of the organizing team for the National Finals, supporting the coordination and smooth execution of this critical stage.
His involvement included:
- Coordinating participant flow and categories
- Supporting judges and organizers during live sessions
- Ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout the event
This reflects Xyphla’s approach—being present, accountable, and involved where responsibility matters most.
The Awards Ceremony: Honouring Excellence, Effort, and Direction
Following the successful completion of the national finals, a formal awards ceremony was held on 1st February at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, bringing the nationwide competition to a dignified and memorable close.
The ceremony was attended by senior scholars and respected figures from Sri Lanka and abroad, adding great honour and significance to the occasion. Their presence underscored the importance of the competition and the high standards it upheld throughout its journey.
Among the distinguished attendees were:
- Ash Sheikh Rizvy Mufthi – President, All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulama
- Ash Sheikh Arkam Nooramith – Secretary, All Ceylon Jammiyathul Ulama
- Ash Sheikh Hamza Wardak – Lead Imam & Religious Director, Masjid Al Jannah , Canada
- Dr. Ali bin Abdul Qadir bin Sheikh Ali Sait – Instructor and Qāriʾ, Qirāʾāt Khairukum Association & Al-Hafidh Association, Jeddah
Alongside them were many other scholars, educators, and community leaders, making the ceremony a gathering of knowledge, experience, and guidance.
The awards ceremony recognised and honoured:
- Outstanding participants who excelled at the national level
- Judges and organizers who upheld fairness and discipline
- Institutions and supporting bodies that enabled the competition
- The collective effort behind a successful nationwide initiative
“Road to Heaven”: A Youth-Focused Session by Fajr Council
In addition to the awards presentation, the programme featured an insightful session for youth conducted by Fajr Council, titled Road to Heaven.
This session addressed the spiritual, moral, and practical challenges faced by today’s youth, offering guidance rooted in Islamic values. It served as a meaningful reminder that the competition was not only about achievement and recognition, but also about character, direction, and purpose.
The inclusion of Road to Heaven added depth to the ceremony—transforming it from a closing event into a moment of reflection and inspiration for the next generation.
Recognition of Responsibility
During the awards ceremony, our Founder was presented with a Token of Appreciation in recognition of his contribution to coordinating and managing key aspects of the competition.
This recognition symbolised trust, responsibility, and the successful coordination of a complex, national-level initiative.
A Note on Xyphla’s Support
To assist with organization and scoring, a lightweight digital system developed by Xyphla was used to support parts of the competition. Its purpose was simple—to improve accuracy and reduce administrative burden—allowing organizers to focus on the event itself.
What This Experience Represents for Xyphla
Being involved in a nationwide competition of this scale reinforced Xyphla’s core values:
- Accountability over visibility
- Responsibility over promotion
- Service over simplicity
It demonstrated that Xyphla can support initiatives where trust, precision, and coordination truly matter.
Looking Ahead
Xyphla remains committed to working alongside institutions and organizations that uphold excellence and community impact. We look forward to supporting future initiatives with the same care, dedication, and sense of responsibility.
